A leading Canadian prolific writer and poet, Margaret Atwood, after painstakingly observed performances of stupid people in power and the degree of desperation they displayed in the quest of getting to the position of authority and responsibilities, even with established paucity of knowledge an capacity, then concluded that ”Stupidity is the same as evil, if you judge by the results”.
The pronouncement of the Federal High Court, Abuja on Monday, in which the temple of justice frowned at what it called illegality in the purported conduct of All Progressives Congress, APC’s Primary election of June 26, 2021 in Anambra State, which was superintended by the Governor of Ogun State, Mr Dapo Abiodun, was another triumph of light over darkness of electoral fraud of high magnitude in Nigeria.
In the first instance, Dapo Abiodun’s Chairmanship of APC Governorship Primary Election Committee for Anambra in the last gubernatorial election came as a signal of an imminent disaster to majority of Ogun State citizens and many alike across the country who are familiar with the Governor and his penchant for illegality and manipulation, coupled with obvious lack of capacity and intellectual strength to undertake complex issues of that nature.
Dapo Abiodun did not disappoint anyone eventually, as there were avalanche of reports of how the Governor assembled like minds in a hotel to negotiate how figures would be manufactured in favour of his preferred candidate with utmost impunity and without recourse to democratic ethos and sanctity of electoral process.
While many looked away, the eloquence of the rest of aspirants in the exercise, who dished out evidence based narratives to substantiate the claim of non-existent primary election in Anambra on June 26 is now being justified by the competent court of law.
The fraudulent pronouncement of 230,000 votes allocated to Andy Uba by Governor Dapo Abiodun in the kangaroo APC primary election, at Golden Tulip Hotel, Agulu Lake, Awka on Sunday, Jun 27, 2021, and the subsequent performance of Uba in the governorship election of November 6, where he struggled to garner just 43,000 votes clearly exposed Governor Dapo Abiodun and his gang on the basis of critical reasoning.
By his nature, the Ogun State Governor is absolutely averse to conventional procedure and decent arrangement; he has been known since the beginning of his career as a man with toga of lopsided and manipulated process.
Dapo Abiodun’s educational background is a pointer to the above fact, including his early political expedition and the 2019 gubernatorial election in Ogun State, which is now becoming a reference of regret to majority of his followers and admirers, including those who he co-opted into the gang of obscurantism.
Ogun State has never had it so messy since the inception of her existence, where the helmsman would be a point of disgrace and embarrassment to the revered state of eminent and exemplary personalities.
That this present Governor in the State has brought the greatest odium to our dear State is an understatement, the latest fraud he coordinated in Anambra should serve as a didactic revelation to every conscious Ogun indigene to now understand the nature and orientation of the man in the saddle and come together to rescue the state from the hands of political wolf in democratic regalia.
While we implicitly agree with the thoughts of Atwood that stupidity is akin to evil based on assessment of results on the face value, we want to convincingly add that our assessment of APC Governorship Primary Election in Anambra on June 26 and as pronounced by the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja intrinsically indicated a combination of indolence and kleptomania.
To us, APC’s Primary election in Anambra is indeed a reflection of the man, Dapo Abiodun.
