As the race to the 2026 governorship election in Osun State continues, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Hon. Bukola Ojuade, has called on the party’s leadership and members to give the governorship ticket to Senator Iyiola Omisore to fly the party’s flag in the upcoming poll.
Ojuade made made the call at a press conference organised by the Ojuade Support Group in Ile-Ife, saying Omisore is the leader Osun deserves at this critical time.
He described Senator Omisore as one of the most qualified aspirants in the party contesting for the governorship ticket
According to him, Senator Omisore is not just a politician. He is an engineer by profession, a legislator by distinction, and a strategist by instinct. He has served this country at the highest levels. As Deputy Governor, he brought infrastructural development to the fore. As a Senator, he championed bills and projects that directly benefited the people of Osun State. As the immediate past National Secretary of the APC, he helped build party structures across Nigeria.
“He is a bridge between the old and the young. He is widely accepted across all senatorial zones. And let me say it clearly today: Senator Iyiola Omisore is more than qualified—he is prepared, capable, and ready to lead Osun into the future.
“His ambition to contest in the 2026 gubernatorial election is not just his—it is the hope of thousands across the 30 local government areas and the Area Office who are yearning for competent, compassionate, and visionary leadership. And with Senator Omisore at the forefront, we are preparing to bring Osun into a new era of responsive and responsible leadership.
“Senator iyiola Omisore is the most popular among the contestants around now. APC should allow Omisore to pick the ticket to lead the party. He cannot be ignored when discussing leadership, development, and capacity”, he declared.
He stressed further that Omisore represents infrastructure with purpose – not just constructing roads, but building access to markets, schools, and healthcare. Security with intelligence – using technology and community-based structures to keep our towns safe.
“Education with reform – focusing on teacher training, curriculum relevance, and learning outcomes. Youth employment with innovation – creating tech hubs, agricultural clusters, and vocational centres across Osun.
“Healthcare with reach – reviving our primary health care system so no child dies because of a lack of access. This is not theory—this is what Omisore has done before, and what he will expand if given the mandate”.
Ojuade reaffirmed that Osun is too important to be left in the hands of unprepared leaders. “We cannot gamble with our children’s future. We cannot allow confusion to triumph over clarity. We need a leader who understands where we’ve been, knows where we are, and can take us where we need to go”.
Speaking on the recent defection of PDP senators and House of Representatives members in Osun to the APC, Ojuade described the move as a major shift in the political alignment of Osun State, adding that this is not merely a change of party affiliation, it is a powerful declaration of confidence in the vision, leadership, and progressive ideology of the APC, both at the state and national levels
“These leaders have chosen to align with a party that is committed to good governance, infrastructural transformation, economic empowerment, and the overall development of Osun State.
“We welcome them with open arms, and we assure them of full integration into our structure. The APC is a big, democratic family—stronger today than it was yesterday—and together, we shall move forward with renewed strength and purpose.
“These men and women, who were once part of a divided and directionless ruling party in Osun State have chosen to return home. They have chosen unity over confusion, service over sentiment, and progress over propaganda.
“The APC is the party of the present and the future. The tide is turning, and Osun State is coming back to the APC that understands governance, listens to its people, and has the track record to prove it”, Ojuade noted.
