The All Progressives Congress, APC Youths under the aegis of Progressives Youths For Positive Change has accused leaders of the party in Ogun Central of nepotism, conspiracy and manipulation.
The Youths accused the leaders especially in Abeokuta North Local Government of using aspirants to fund the party structure without rewarding them afterwards.
They as well remind Governor Dapo Abiodun to embark on his promise made to Chairmanship aspirants who sacrificed their ambitions for the party’s annointed candidate.
This was made known in a press release made available to newsmen in Abeokuta, on Sunday.
The statement reads: “It’s pertinent for us as a social political group within the All Progressives Congress APC, in Ogun State to address some infractions happening within Ogun Central political space.
“We have for a long time with keen interest observed some anomalies going on in Ogun Central APC, particularly Abeokuta North and this call for urgent attention.
“You will recall that at the height of the local government election in the state which lasted between 2019-2021, some chairmanship aspirants in Abeokuta North were compelled to step down from the race by Governor Dapo Abiodun and some leaders for an annointed candidate to emerge.
“Till the moment, it’s saddened that majority of the aspirants who sacrificed their ambitions were yet to be compensated as promised by the Governor.
“These aspirants spent their fortunes to stabilise the party structure when there’s none while those who have not done much for the party are reaping where they do not sow.
“The funniest part is that one of the Chairmanship aspirant from Abeokuta North, was appointed as SA to the Governor for just less than 4 months in office. We also found out that his name is missing from the list presently sent to the Governor by the leaders.
“Abeokuta North is becoming a danger zone for young generation coming into politics due to the nepotism of the so call leader and these are the people funding the party. Yet, they are yet to be rewarded. Meanwhile, politics is all about give and take.
“Findings by this group revealed that some Abeokuta North APC leaders are also frustrating the young ones and prefer to negotiate for their relations to be at the helms of affairs after milking and sucking their resource.
“Our major concern is that when will the young ones fulfil their dreams to represent their people when the so-call leaders has failed to do things right?
“It has now become a norm in Ogun Central especially in Abeokuta North politics to handpick non deserving people than those who actually deserved to be compensated.
“We call on Abeokuta North APC leaders from We call on Engineer. Adekunle Adeshina, Chief Bakai Okedara, Alhaja Faidat Akintunde, Hon. Adeyemi Adelani to have a rethink as the whole world is watching. But if they continue trade same path, we shall not hesitate to write a petition against you to the Governor, Ogun APC and the National Secretariat of our party in Abuja.
“Alhaja Faidat Akintunde, the Chairman of the party and Hon. Adebayo Ayorinde, the local government chairman should act on this issue and address it as matter of urgency. You’re both the leader of Abeokuta North APC and should not allowed to be manipulated by anyone.
“We implore all leader to be sincere in their dealings and compensate those who have sacrificed their ambition, time, resources for the interest of the party.
“However, we shall not relent in our efforts in demanding for equity and justice as a progressive minded individuals”.
