It is clear that the King Makers in Iree , Boripe North LCDA has decided to throw Iree into needless confusion with refusal to Elect the new Oba for the town, one of the basis for refusal was that Iyalode that was elected was not eligible to selected being a female and lower in ranking. Apart from the fact that it is the perogative of the government to appoint the warrant Cheif, it also important to mention the following cities and town where Iyalode was appointed as warrant Cheif.
To put the record straight, the are some of the Stools where Iyalode (female) stand as Kingmaker.
1.Ataoja of Osogbo
2.Olukoyi of Ikoyi in Isokan LG
3. Alawuje of Awuje in Iwo – West LCDA
4. Olorigo of Origo in Egbedore L G.
5. Alabere of Abere in Ede North LCDA.
Iree can not be an exception . No amount of blackmail should make the government to shift ground -it’s the law and no one can change it . It is also important to educate our King Makers that abdicating their duty to elect an oba could make them loose that right . Those who might not know should seek for knowledge instead of talking anyhow on social media .
I can not imagine someone saying he does not know why government will be involved in kings making —that’s complete ignorance . Who makes the law guiding Chieftaincy affairs, Who determine and pay Obas salary ? Who promote obas ? Who approves obas to part? Who has the power to dispose a King
E.g Emir of Kano ? Who gives staff of office to Obas? Who supervises the process of electing or selecting a King ? Who approves the selection ? Who appoint warrant chiefs ?
It is important that we educate our self, Iree Obaship should not be politicised. It is only a King that has the power or authority or right to dispose or remove a Chief, can Cheif suspend another Chief ? Never , Aogun of Iree Land who is number 4 in hierarchy suspended the Late Eesa of Iree number two and the man went through the disgrace to his grave .
Just yesterday ,Friday the 27th of October ,the Aogun of Iree again suspended the Iyalode and one other Chief claiming they were rude to him .Can a Cheif appoint and install another another Cheif? —never ..
All these happened in Iree and because we don’t have the knowledge and we allow sentiment to override our sense of reasoning we never saw anything wrong in all these .
May God see us through in Iree .
