The presidential candidate Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, Monday met with Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, in Abuja, on Monday.
Atiku defeated Wike and other presidential aspirants in the party to pick the party’s presidential ticket on Saturday.
Atiku polled 371 votes to defeat Wike, who got 237 votes at the PDP presidential primary held at Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja, on Saturday.
Former Senate President Bukola Saraki polled 70 votes; Governor Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom State, 38 votes; Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, 20 votes; a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim, 14 votes and an ex-President of Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Sam Ohuabunwa, one vote.
It was gathered that the meeting was to mend fences between the two leaders ahead of the 2023 presidential election.
Even though details of the meeting remain sketchy, it was also learnt that Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, amongst other PDP chieftains, was present at the meeting.
