At least 15 villagers were killed when bandits invaded Hayin Kanwa village, Yakawada ward in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State, on Sunday.
The incident happened three days after about 50 people were reportedly killed across nine villages in the same LGA.
A Kaduna Vigilance Service (KADVS) member in Giwa, who craved for anonymity, told Daily Trust that the victims were buried on Monday.
He said the situation in Giwa is getting worse because people have been killed daily since Thursday.
“The situation is terrible because 15 more people were killed at Hayin Kanwa just yesterday (Sunday) night by bandits. Since on Thursday, these bandits have been attacking villages killing people said,” he said.
Another resident of Giwa, who simply identified himself as Ridwan, told Daily Trust that bandits storm the village frequently.
“They came into the village shooting sporadically which led to the death of these people. Do you know that the dead bodies couldn’t be evacuated till this morning?” he said.
He also added that the bandits were more interested in killing people than abducting them.
Another resident told Daily Trust that some of the victims were buried at Tashar Sharri, close to Hayin Kanwa, adding that the death toll might increase.
Giwa Local Government Chairman, Abubakar Shehu, could not be reached on phone.
The State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, did not answer calls and reply text messages sent to him.
Calls to the state Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Jalige Mohammed, were also unanswered.
