An Enugu-based Micro-Finance Bank has threatened to drag Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) to court for allegedly invading its banking hall and disrupting banking activities.
The bank is also demanding the sum of N50 million as damages from the EEDC for unlawfully disconnecting electricity supply to its premises.
The bank, Ohha Community Bank, disclosed that over 10, officials of EEDC, led by Nweke Udochukwu and Henry Izuu, invaded the banking hall, disrupted banking activities and unlawfully disconnecting the electricity supply to the premises.
The bank, in a petition to the EEDC management, described as shocking the alleged recent unruly and barbaric behaviour of EEDC officials who invaded its premises to carry out unlawful disconnection after disrupting banking activities in the bank.
In the petition written on behalf of the microfinance bank by its lawyer, Barrister Olu Omotayo, the bank expressed surprise that the EEDC could flagrantly disobey the verdict of the Enugu forum of the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to embark on such invasion.
The petition dated June 25, 2021 reads in part: “Our client had earlier made a complaint to the NERC Forum with file a Complaint NO: NERC/05/CA/FO/EN/21/1259.
