There was a serious tension in the wee hours of Monday as Popular Yoruba activist, Chief Sunday igboho’s house was reportedly attacked.
It was not clear immediately those behind the attack but Igboho spokeperson, Olayomi Koiki alleged that the attackers are Nigerian military who were sponsored by the federal government.
It was gathered that the attack occurred around 2a.m on Monday with heavy gunshots around his residence. In a live broadcast shared by Koiki on Monday, the agitators vow not to desist from the call for independent Yoruba nation Sunday igboho has been clamouring for. Chief Sunday Igboho, had declared that the time has come for the actualisation of the much-desired Yoruba Nation.
During his declaration, Igboho said the major resources of Nigeria were in the hands of Northerners, stressing that Yorubas were being killed and their land taken over. Igboho stated there is no basis for ‘one Nigeria’ as insecurity spreads to the southwest region, adding the only solution is for the Yoruba nation to stand on its own
He said that all traditional rulers in Yoruba land must support the movement to free the South-west from slavery or they will not ‘see the light of the next day.’
The attacking of house of Mr Sunday Igboho by military men sponsored by federal government under the leadership of Mr President Muhammad Buhari is very very uncalled for & undemocratic for fighting for his people been marginalised & been treated as a slave in their father land which they’re saying we’re one’s country
