As the world celebrate breastfeeding week, a non Governmental Organization, Brothers Across Nigeria (BAN), Osun State Chapter, has distributed baby materials to nursing mothers to mark this year breastfeeding.
Speaking, the group coordinator Mr. Jayeola Sunday charged the nursing mothers to take breastfeeding for the first six months serious and to supplemented breastfeeding for at least one year.
Sunday made the charge at 2020 World Breastfeeding Week tagged; ‘Support breastfeeding for a healthier planet’ that held at Adeti Primary Health center Ilesha, Osun state.
The group leader said the exclusive breastfeeding is very important which he said it can assist mother and kid to be healthy.
“the provision of baby materials to nursing mothers is part of the humanitarian activities of the Brother Across Nigeria aimed at betterment of the society.” he said
LRO of the Primary Health Center , Mrs Toyin Ajewole commanded the group for their kind gesture towards the development of the community.
Ajewole called on well meaning Nigerians to use their wealth impact the the society in meaningful way.
The World breastfeeding Week was first celebrated in 1992 came up with the goal to promoting exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life which yields many health benefits, providing critical nutrients, protection from deadly diseases such as pneumonia and fostering growth and development, it is an annual celebration which is held every year from 1st to 7th August.
