Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Board has commenced the refund of the year 2020/2021 hajj fare deposit by intending pilgrims following the cancellation of this year’s holy pilgrimage to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Salau Babatunde, while interacting with journalists in his office at Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, said intending pilgrims seeking for a refund as a result of the cancellation of the exercise should visit the Board’s Secretariat with evidence of payment receipts and other documents for the process.

Salau further stressed that it was permitted for those willing to defer their hajj fare deposits till 2022 exercise to notify the Board of their decision so as to have them properly documented.

Similarly, the Kwara Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board on Wednesday in Ilorin, the state capital, said it had concluded arrangements to refund the hajj fares of those unable to undertake the exercise this year.

The affected persons are 1,700.

The Executive Secretary of the board, Alhaji AbdulGaniyu Ahmed, disclosed this during a telephone chat with some newsmen in Ilorin.

Ahmed, while describing the development as unfortunate, said the board would refund the hajj fare to any interested intending pilgrim.
