A long-serving member of the National Assembly, Hon. Oluwole Oke is facing increasing criticism from constituents who feel poorly represented.

Reports have it that many residents are vocal about their disappointment in his lack of meaningful contributions to the community throughout his 22 years so far in office.

According to a local teacher, Adeola Olatunji, from Erin Ijesha, during an interview with newsmen, “It’s sad to see Oke in power for so long without making a real difference, yet desperate to get ticket again”

“We need leaders who prioritise our needs, not those who seem disconnected from our struggles. It’s as if he has forgotten that we elected him.”

Bola Ajayi, a community activist from Ipetu – ile, echoed these sentiments. “Okes actions reflect a lack of understanding of the issues we face daily. Instead of advocating for what will benefit us, he seems more interested in self-promotion. We need someone who will stand up for us, not a user and a deceitful leader.”

Residents are particularly disillusioned by Oke’s failure to deliver on key projects. “There’s no legacy project to speak of; in fact, that’s one of my basic fallouts with him,” noted Ayo, a prominent voice in Esa – Oke.

“The Nigeria Army Village he facilitated when he was Chairman of the House Committee on Defence at Itegun-Ijesa is still incomplete and currently in ruins.”

He also promised a mini stadium in Ijebu Jesa along ESA OKE/ITA-WURE, which remains uncompleted to this day.”

Another resident, Funmi Adedayo, expressed her dissatisfaction with Oke’s lack of tangible contributions, saying, “Even the OSCOTECH in his town has seen no significant investment from him”

“He has not constructed a single block there, except for nine solar panel street lights that were donated in twenty – two years. This is simply not enough.”

Critics also pointed out that none of Oke’s sponsored bills have turned into law over the past 22 years.

“It’s disheartening to see a man who has held such prominent positions in the floor of the house, Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, Chairman of House Committee on Public Procurement, Chairman of House Committee on Public Account, and Chairman of House Committee on Foreign Affairs, yet he has achieved so little for his constituency,” said a local elder.

Meanwhile, as calls for change grows louder, constituents are urging Oke to reassess his priorities and focus on the genuine needs of the people he was elected to serve.
