..Osun government speaks on the request.
The Oluwo of Iwo land Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi is reportedly set to marry a yet-to-be-disclosed Kano princess.
It was gathered that Oluwo, in 2019, divorced his estranged wife, Chanel Chin.
Ms Chin is the daughter of Jamaican reggae star, Ludlow Chin also known as “Bobo Zaro” who is best known for the song ‘Pain’, a collaboration with Capleton.
However, Oluwo has found love again.
Oluwo, in an interview with BBC, confirmed his upcoming wedding stating that the date will be made public.
But a letter had gone viral on the internet where the royal father purportedly solicited money for the Kano wedding.
The letter dated February 8, 2022 addressed to Osun Governor Adegboyega Oyetola was reportedly received on his behalf by the office of Special Adviser on Chieftaincy Affairs.
The letter reads in parts, “I have the instruction of the His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr) Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, the Oluwo of Iwo to notify you of Oluwo’s decision to marry a princess from Kano Emirate to be precise Ado Bayero Dynasty.
“I wish to remind your Excellency that this kind of royal wedding within two notable traditional institutions in Nigeria will require huge expenses, which necessitate support of the state government financially even logistically.”
Reacting to development the Press Secretary to Oluwo, Alli Ibraheem, said the palace did not author any letter to the Osun Government, seeking N20m to finance the Monarch’s wedding.
According to him, “We didn’t author any letter. The letterhead you saw is not the one used by Oluwo. Moreso, if Baba will write government, it will carry his signature.”
While reacting, the Osun State Government described the letter on the social media purportedly from the palace of the Oluwo of Iwo land, requesting for the sum of N20Million Governor Oyetola is a negative insinuations.
The government said those behind the letter are mischief makers to bring the governor and the government on a collision course with the citizens.
According to released signed by Funke Egbemode, Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, “These mischief makers have come up empty again and all their attempts will come to nothing. We will not be disturbed or distracted by the noise of political miscreants whose only job is to grab their phones, get on social media every morning to cause bad blood.
“We implore the good people of Osun to ignore all insinuations targeted at maligning this governor and government. We can see through the thin veneer of those who out of desperation will do anythingto get the attention of Osun people. We know they are running out of oxygen, but we will not descend to their level”,she added
