A Magistrate’s Court sitting in Osogbo, Osun State, has ordered the remand of a 25-year-old man, Adegoke Damilola, for allegedly stealing an Apple Gift Card belonging to his friend.
Damilola was accused of stealing the gift card used in purchasing articles on the Apple Store from Gbolahan Akinpelu, on January 27.
Police prosecutor, Inspector Adeoye Kayode, informed the court that the defendant fraudulently obtained the card from Akinpelu by stealing it.
Kayode said that the stolen card had credit worth N725, 000, 00 as of the time when it was stolen.
The charge against him read that “You, Adegoke Damilola, on January 27, 2022 at Mallam Tope area, Osogbo, did fraudulently obtain one Apple Gift Card valued at N725, 000 from one Gbolahan Akinpelu.
“You (defendant) at the same time and place did steal one Apple Gift Card valued at N725, 000 only, property of one Gbolahan Akinpelu.”
Kayode said that the accused person committed offences contrary to sections 419 and 383 and punishable under Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Volume II, Laws of Osun State, 2002.
Without any legal representation, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the allegations of fraud and theft.
Magistrate M. A. Olatunji adjourned the case till April 21 for consideration of his bail and ordered that he should be remanded at the Ilesa Correctional facility.
