The Osun State committee for Covid-19 palliative relief has assured citizens of the state its commitment to discharge task before them with fairness in the second round CACOVID palliative distribution.
The committee chaired by Pastor Enoch Adeboye led by its secretary, Mr Bayo Jimoh on Monday in a press conference with newsmen held at Osun NUJ centre, Osogbo dismissed the insinuation that second phase of CACOVID palliatives have been received and horded.
Mr Jimoh said CACOVID announcement on 24th of Novermber, 2020 its readiness to second the second round of palliatives to Osun.
He said in a letter signed by Administrator of CACOVID, Abuja, Mr Osayi Alile update this name please explained the challenges it faced in buying 40320 ton kg bags of rice which he confirmed is now ready.
“Following this Mr Governor out of his magnanimity said with this letter it is important we remember that our people deserve to receive what is their because if we say that with what happened we are not going to receive the 13 trucks of rice they will take it to another place.
“The governor approved that we will now ask them to send the rice because they have accepted the responsibility” he said.
Speaking on when the rice will be distributed, Mr Jimoh stressed that ” the rice when it come will be distributed directly through local government.”
Similarly, Osun State Commissioner For Industry And Commerce, Industry Cooperative and Empowerment, Dr Bode Olaonipekun said the state government will not use its storage facilities due to past experience of Endsars and pro Endsars in the state that led to the stolen of food items.
According to him, All beneficiary as itemized by CACOVID guideline will be taken care of from disable to the vulnerable in such away that it will be traceable and accountable.
“There is a monitoring team that is going to look into collection logistics and distribution of the food items when it get to respective local government it will be distributed. This comprises of CACOVID motoring and evaluation team that are being on ground all this while even the food items that were been looted are been under their watch as well.
“Those that will be joining CACOVID team in the distribution exercise are civil society, religious leaders, traditional rulers, youths and students representative from each local government to ensure that every segment have representation in the monitoring,” he said
