Easter: Foundation Offsets Medical Bills Of Indigent Patients In Ebonyi

A charitable foundation popularly known as Nico charity foundation has paid off medical bills of some indigent patients at the pediatric ward, Alex Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki, Ebonyi State to mark the Easter celebration.

The founder of the foundation, Mr Egede Anthony said he was motivated to pay those hospital bills to alleviate the sufferings of the people, saying that helping the poor has been his covenant with God, even as it was immortalize from his father.

According to Egede, the foundation has been engaging into numerous humanitarian services in Ebonyi State and beyond, noting that since the formation of the foundation in 2021, they have awarded scholarship to some persons into primary and secondary schools, to study to tertiary level, while another was awarded scholarship to study community health at College of Health Technology, Ngbo Ebonyi State and one person studying Computer science in Ebonyi State university, Abakaliki.

While expressing his avowed commitment and determination to continue touching lives of the needy positively in the society, Egede urged political office holders to cultivate the habit of assisting the less privileged ones in the society instead of their own personal interest and expressed optimism that God would keep the beneficiaries in a good health.

He added that he distributed phantoms of wrappers among other valuable items to the various villages in his Community, Igbeagu during last year’s Christmas and has contributed meaningfully to the growth of different churches in the State.

The chairman of the foundation, Mr Alike Okechukwu commended the founder of the foundation Mr Egede Anthony for humanitarian services and his immense contribution to the growth of the society. He noted the foundation had help a lot in changing lives of many positively especially students and called on well spirited individuals to emulate the philanthropic disposition of Mr Egede while also calling on government at all levels to cultivate the habit of helping the needy for a better society.

The Matron of Pediatric hospital Alex Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki, Mrs Eze Chizoba prayed for God’s blessing upon lives of the benefactor and to prosper him in all his lives endeavors.

Some of the beneficiaries including Nwali Oluchi from Ikwo LGA who was treated of kidney failure and Ani Ujunwa from Ishielu LGA whose child was treated of malnutrition, expressed gladness for such unexpected intervention and prayed God to replenish the benefactor in millionfold.
