The Kaduna Police Command has assured residents of the state of a hitch-free Sallah celebration across the 23 Local Government Areas of the state.
The state Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mohammad Jalige, in a statement in Kaduna on Saturday, also disclosed that the command had deployed 10,000 special forces for the celebration.
According to him, the deployment is drawn from the conventional, logistics and tactical manpower of the Command, aimed at ensuring that the festivities are observed without issues.
Jalige added that the 10,000 police officers were to cover worship centres, critical national infrastructures, markets, social and recreational centers, major highways, and other public spaces during and after the Sallah period.
The police spokesman said, “The Kaduna Police Command wishes to notify the general public that it has made adequate security arrangement to cover for both workers’ and Eid-el-Fitr celebrations in the State.
“The deployment is drawn from the convensional, logistics and tactical manpower of the Command, all aimed at ensuring that the festivities are observed hitch free in the State.
“The over ten thousand (10,000) personnel deployment is to cover worship centers, critical national infrastructures, markets, social and recreational centers, major highways and other public spaces.”
Jalige also quoted the state Commissioner of Police, Yekini Ayoku, to have warned against the use of fireworks otherwise known as “knock out” during the Sallah festive period, adding that violators risk being prosecuted in accordance with the extant laws.
