The civil societies under aegis of Joint Action Front JAF has called on Nigeria Labor Congress and Trade Union Congress to declare nationwide strike if Federal Government fail to reverse the increment of electricity tariff and petrol pump price.
The protesters stormed Osogbo, state capital of Osun on Wednesday, the Protesters moved from Nelson Mandela Freedom Park to Oke-Fia, Alekuwodo which was later terminated at pupolar Olaiya conjunction affected free traffic in the area, demanding a total reversal of the hike in electricity and fuel.

Speaking, the convener of the group, Comrade Adegoke Alfred said it’s high time for the Labour Unions to safe Nigerians from federal government attack under President Muhammadu Buhari.
Alfred charged citizens to reject the anti people’s policy of the federal government, urging the masses to stand up and condemn mess that they are calling government in Nigeria.
According to him, “We are calling on Nigeria Labor Congress and Trade Union Congress to declare national strike to put President Muhammadu Buhari on fast track by doing the needful and listen to demand of the masses.
“NLC and TUC should rise up to do their historical responsibility to fight for the working people. If the Labour Union fail to do this their name will be written as a failure.
Similarly, the coordinator for the ACIS-M Akin Asifa Gofment charged the people to come out enmase and say no to increment of electricity tariff and petrol pump price which he described as anti-poor Nigerians policy.
Asifa said if Nigerians keep silent from resisting the increment by the present government it will lead to inflation in foods and others lively materials which will make life difficult for the masses
He , however, insisted that they will not leave the streets and will continue to protest against the hike until government reserved the new policy.
