Tennis superstar Emma Raducanu is romantically linked with the son of a US billionaire – sparking speculation of a new power couple.
Carlo Agostinelli, 22, is said to be courting the 20-year-old Grand Slam winner. Raducanu has shared a number of pictures with the wealthy heart-throb on her Instagram page, and Agostinelli has commented with a love heart emoji on one of her recent posts.
Raducanu is currently absent from the professional tennis scene after undergoing hand and ankle surgery at the beginning of May, ruling her out “for the next few months”. Her career has stalled since shocking the world to win the US Open two years ago.
Agostinelli is a former Harrow school head boy who played football while studying international relations at Stanford University in the United States. His dad is Robert Agostinelli, a 70-year-old former Goldman Sachs banker who once tried to buy Liverpool.
He was carrying a huge bouquet of flowers, as she returned from a gruelling day of training in a bid to regain her best form and fitness.
Raducanu has also been seen dining with Agostinelli’s model sister, Heloise, at a fancy restaurant in Paris.
Agostinelli’s sibling shared a picture of the meeting on her Instagram, with her mother, Mathilde Favier, replying with a love heart emoji. Favier is the head of public relations for Dior in Paris – the company Raducanu is a global fashion and beauty ambassador for.
This could potentially be how Raducanu and Agostinelli met, although they are remaining quiet on the finer details of their friendship for now. Neither Raducanu nor Agostinelli have formally confirmed they are in a relationship together.
On the court, Raducanu will be keen to belatedly build on her US Open triumph. She is yet to win another title, Grand Slam or otherwise, since that remarkable triumph, which saw her become the first ever qualifier to win a major in the Open Era (since 1968).
Injuries have been the main reason for Raducanu’s disappointing form, which has seen her drop outside of the world’s top 100 women’s players. She is no longer the British No.1, with Katie Boulter – the 26-year-old from Leicester – claiming top spot.
