The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirant, Peter Obi, has stated that the current chaos and insecurity bedevilling the country is a cumulative effect of a failed government.

Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, stated this, yesterday, at a meeting with PDP delegates in Lagos State, urging the leadership of the party to consider those with credibility and capacity to win the election.

He lamented that the country is known for consuming and sharing its commonwealth instead of producing.

He said: “What we are seeing is a cumulative effect of a failed government. The consequences of bad leadership are that Nigeria now has the highest unemployment in the world and a huge number of out-of-school children.

“The fundamental reason for this is because Nigeria is a country that is not productive. We are a consuming and sharing nation. Nigeria has a sharing formula and not a producing formula. I plead with everyone that it’s time to move Nigeria from sharing to producing nation. The more we put people out of poverty, the more we minimise criminality and violence.”

On his part, Doyin Okupe urged the leadership of the party and PDP delegates to consider the candidature of Obi, noting that he is a more credible and formidable candidate among all the aspirants in PDP.

“For truth and justice, the presidency must be zoned to the South-East. That’s why I quit my aspiration for the presidency. Nigeria at this present time requires somebody who can stop the declining rate of the country.

“We should not choose our president based on sentiments.”
