By Ismail Azeez, Osogbo.

A member of House of Representative, Honour Shina Peller has attributed the socio-vices among Nigerian youths to lack of the sustainable platform that could engage them to achieve their dream.

The Federal lawmaker, representing Kajola, Iwajowa Federal constituency, Oyo State, made the claim at a two-day leadership training organized by Lead Generation Initiative LGI for Osun youths in Osogbo, Osun State on Wednesday, said its high time for youths to find a sustainable structure that they can ride on to achieve Nigeria of their dream.

Peller, who is also the Chairman of Lead Generation Initiative Board Of Trustees further said the youths need to strive to take their rightful place and disallow being constantly short-changed, saying Nigerian youths are valuable assets to the nation.

He urged the youths to begin the better society they are clamouring for at their immediate communities.

GILT participants

According to him, “The Lead Generation Initiative is an organized movement for socio-political, economic and cultural change and development. It is a movement that takes pride in building and inspiring young people to get involved, and take responsibility for their communities and the nation at large.

“Participants are trained in effective leadership skills, strategic communication, political Mobilization, active citizenship, and nation-building.

“As you embark on the journey of becoming leaders, choose to be an inter-dependent one that will be trained to train others and garner like minds for effective community development. Do not hesitate to get involved in policymaking decisions and show interest in issues that concerns governance and nation-building.

“As emerging leaders you must display enthusiasm in community development, people will surely look up to you. And they will respond more openly if you possess passion and dedication for this cause. In other words, be a source of inspiration and be a motivator.

“If you look around our society, I know there are numerous issues you are not comfortable with, there are things that bother you and you are eager to change the status quo. But as the saying goes, charity begins at home – s.

He however, enjoined all participants to engross themselves in leadership with the knowledge they acquire from the training, saying LGI has exposed them to the requisite skills needed to become a great leader.

Speaking, the Osun State Commission for Works and Transportation, Honorable Omowaye Oluremi said there is a gap of leadership capacity on the leaders of the country, urging the youths to take advantage of.

We must stop saying we are the leaders of tomorrow by mouth rather prepare ourselves for greater responsibility for tomorrow. Oluremi said
