A Federal lawmaker representing, Ede, Egbedore and Ejigbo, Hon Bamidele Salam has charged the entire citizens of Nigeria to make a decision to be part of the solution in solving poverty in the country.
Salam gave the charge on Saturday at the investiture ceremony of a non governmental organization, Rotary Club of Osogbo, commended the Club for its tremendous role in community development.
He said God has used the NGO for many people to achieve their dream and goals.
He promised to be part of the principal partner in the programme of the Club for the project of the year.
In his acceptance speech, the 38 trailblazer president RTN Barr. Niyi Akinsola commended the leaders and members for the confidence reposed on him during election process.
Barr. Akinsola said the NGO has impacted to the development of its society through numerous projects and several programs that have touched human lives.
He, however, solicited support of the people to achieve in achieving set goal of the Club that will be of benefit to the society.
While highlighting successful projects of the Club, he said the NGO provided motorized borehole in a community where its residents do not have access to portable water and are presently drinking from Brooks.
He further said that trees were planted, donation of Wheel chairs, adding that the Club will empower less privilege in the community through donation of vocational equipment , among others.
According to him, “Rotary is an international service Organization whose stated objective is to bring together business and professional leaders in order to provide humanitarian service and to advance goodwill and peace and around the world.
“Rotary Club of Osogbo was founded in 1983. During these period numerous community development projects have been executed the construction and donation of 27 bedded children ward Rotary Ward of Hope at then, State Hospital, Osogbo now inherited by the Lautech Teaching Hospital Osogbo.
“Construction and donation of 5000 Seated Capacity Multipurpose Hall to the school of the physical challenged, Osogbo, donation of an Ambulance to Our Lady Fatimoh Catholic Hospital Osogbo and donation of economic empowerment to less privileged in on our community to mention but few.” he added
Dr. Babatunde Ajibade SAN, Alara of Ara Oba Dr. Olubayo Adesola, Justice Dr. Adeyinka Aderibigbe, Mrs Adenike Adesanya among the dignitaries lauded the Club for the contribution to the development of the community in state.
