A fire outbreak has destroyed goods and important assets worth millions of Naira at Yola Town Main Market in Yola South Local Government Area, Adamawa State.
According to eyewitnesses who are privy to the development, a fire broke out in the Yola Town market early on Monday, destroying shops and products, adding that some of the traders who saved the proceeds of Sunday’s sales now regret not taking the money home.
Furthermore, while firefighters responded quickly enough, the ferocity of the fire made containment difficult.
By the time this report was filed on Monday morning, the cause of the fire had not been discovered, but individuals in the market area ruled out any connection to electricity because the entire region was in a blackout at the time.
New Telegraph gathered that there was no case of human casualty reported.
The Adamawa State Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, in a sympathetic visit to the market just before 10 a.m. on Monday, reminded the devastated traders that the government is with them in these painful moments.
