Foreign Links Campus matriculates 1,500 freshers – Provost

The Provost of Foreign Links Campus, Dr Nsikak Akpan, has declared that no fewer than 1,500 freshers’ were matriculated.

Akpan made the disclosure during the Matriculation Ceremony of 2024/2025 Academic Session on Tuesday,at Moro Campus, Ife North Local Government Area of Osun.

He congratulated the in-coming students for the opportunity given
encourage them to make use of the opportunity wisely, for opportunity comes but once.

According to him, What worth doing at all, what doing well, saying that they need to be serious with their studies and be loyal to the school authority.

The Provost emphasised that getting to a destination has a necessary steps taking in which they began today, admonished them to thoroughly read and shun examination malpractices,cultism and other social vices.

“You need to be serious in your studies in respect of your chosen field or careers,.whatever you want to become in life lies in your hands.

“If there’s destruction in the educational section, there’ll be national destruction, for education is the bedrock of the nation”. He stated.

Also, One of the members of the Institution Governing Council, Prof Fakunle, commended the efforts of Dr Akinosun for given education which is the best legacy to people.

Fakunle congratulated the freshers’, charged them to be relentless in their seriousness and ensure they do their best to achieve their success.

“You must be focused, determined and well disciplined so as to come out in flying colours, for you too are as glorious as matriculating students of Obafemi Awolowo University among others.

“Quality education is difficult to get, but try as much as possible to get yours for you can graduate here and be a hot cake at foreign countries for betterment of life”. He stated.

The Olu of Saga, Oba Ojeyinka Oladejo, Operomade 1, lauded the founder of the Institution for modeling people’s life by giving them sound education and scholarship.

Oba Oladejo urged them to be of good character and remember the children of whom they are by working away from bad peer group for evil group spoilt good character.

In the same vein, the retired Permanent Secretary, Mr Folorunsho Alao, appealed to the incoming students to be a good ambassador of the school, parents and the society at large.

“Your determination and hard working leads you to achievements of your goals and objectives in life, so make sure your studies is your primary assignment here, while others are secondary.

In his remarks, the President who doubles as Chairman Governing Council of the Institution, Dr Fola Akinosun, said “we are committed to train you to be the best in Nigeria and beyond”.

“Today marks a special day that midwives becomes students of tertiary institutions;Today you are now educated, not to be suspected, but get licensed from government to practice”.

He promised to assist the midwives whose admitted through scholarship after graduation with facilities and equipment needed to embark their job.

He commended Federal Government for approved”Family Healthcare Technology” which led
to their admission as midwives which will surely transform their future from criminal to government workers.

The President stressed that Foreign Links Campus is the first institution of its kind in Nigeria that have the course, called on government to support so as to achieve their goals.

Ground rents debt: Asokoro, Maitama to pay N3.1bn to FCTA, FCTA staff sit for exams, Ishola Michael - Bauchi North-Eastern district of NRC commences 5km passengers, students train shuttle in Bauchi In its gradual reintroduction of train passengers shuttle in the ongoing revamping of the rail sector, North-Eastern District of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) on Monday test run a five kilometer rail shuttle from Bauchi to Inkil along the Bauchi-Gombe rail line mainly for passengers and students on excursion on the line. The disclosure was made by the Railway District Manager of NRC, Mr Aliyu Mainasara, during the unveiling of the rail line services in Bauchi during which the RDM, management team and passengers were conveyed from the Bauchi station to Inkil Community and back to the main station in Bauchi. While speaking at the occasion, Aliyu Mainasara pointed out that the Services will run from Monday to Saturday three times in a day with a token of N200 per trip from Bauchi station to Inkil Community stressing that each trip will be accompanied by security personnel to protect passengers and their belongings. According to him, "The train has the capacity of conveying between 70 to 100 passengers with comforting facilities on each trip". The RDM however said that full services will commence on Monday, September 5, 2022 with daily and monthly schedules saying that the North-Eastern district had not run a single train in the last seven years due to challenges posed by insecurity and vandalization of its tracks . The RDM stressed that, "The initiative will accord the citizens and children to test the rail services because there are people who don't have experience of rail services. With this, the children from schools would go for an excursion from Bauchi station to Inkil Community that is five kilometers from Bauchi station". He then assured that, "By the end of this year, we will extend the services to Alkaleri local government area of the state up to Gombe state respectively" . He also said that Engineers in the District are working on the tracks for the expansion of the scope of services to the Alkaleri Local Government Area of the state saying that, “The moment we fixed the tracks up to Alkaleri, believe me, we will start to run our trains as well as Gombe in the District".
