Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has applauded celebrated filmmaker Kunle Afolayan and his team on the official unveiling of the KAP Film Village and Resort in Igbojaye, Oyo State.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Governor Makinde described the project as a significant milestone for the state’s creative and tourism sectors.

He directed the Itesiwaju Local Government authorities to immediately begin rehabilitation of the Okaka-Igbojaye Road, which provides access to the facility. The governor also revealed plans to install a solar mini-grid and extend a dedicated electricity line from Okaka to the film village.

“When I was re-elected, we introduced the Roadmap for the Sustainable Development of Oyo State, 2023–2027, which includes tourism and solid mineral development as key drivers of economic growth,” Makinde stated.

“This film village is evidence that our vision is becoming reality. It’s a big win for Oyo State. Kunle Afolayan may not be an indigene of the state, yet he chose to invest here — and today, Igbojaye is on the global map of tourism.”

Makinde also noted the development of an international airport in Ibadan, saying the airside should be completed by October or November, with expectations to accommodate wide-bodied aircraft by then.

He called on both local and international investors to explore opportunities in Oyo State, emphasizing that the government welcomes businesses capable of adding value to the state’s economy.
