Osun State Commissioner for Health Dr. Isamotu Rafiu has charged Non-governmental Organisations and well meaning Nigerians not to relent in providing humanitarian services for the people around them saying government alone cannot provide all the needs of people.

Rafiu gave the charge on Thursday, at the commissioning of a block of toilet donated to State Specialist Hospital, Asubiaro, Osogbo facilitated by Osogbo Metropolitan Lions Club.

Isamotu who was represented the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dayo Olaluwoye said the NGO at the international level has overtime assisted the state high care centre urging them to do more.

He assured the NGO and well meaning Nigerians that the government will always pay attention to them whenever they have projects in the state.

Isamotu however urged the populace to always observe the COVID-19 pandemic protocols, adding that the country is yet to be free from the pandemic.

According to him, “We are living in a society where the needs of the people are so many but the resources to meet up with their needs is limited. It is when a body or spirited individuals or organizations like this come forward to support the government that we can get things moving.

“The Lions Club International Osogbo Metropolitan is one of the few Non Governmental Organisations that has been coming forward to the assistance of the public in so many ways. For the health sector in Osun, we are very grateful to them for their project,” he said.

Speaking, the President of Osogbo Metropolitan Lions Club 2019/2020 Lions year, Mrs Solabomi Akinsola said the club is giving back to the society to complement efforts of the government to bring health to standard in the state.

Akinsola said the NGO decided to embark on the construction of convenience for the three departments at State Specialist Hospital, Asubiaro, Osogbo for the benefit of the state.

She commended the state government and the Hospitals Management Board for the privilege to execute the project.

She implored non-lion members to join the humanitarian club in a bid to have more hands that will reach out and touch lives of the needy in the communities.

Speaking through his son, Alhaji Abdusalam Abdurasaq who sponsored the project reiterated his commitment to humanitarian services.
