A group under the platform of Real Estate Marketers and Consultants Association of Nigeria (REMCAN) has said that plan is on top board to regulate the exorbitant prices of houses and other properties in the housing sector.

Mr Nnamani Collins, National President of REMCAN made this known at a news conference to herald the launch of the organisation in Abuja on Friday.

He said that REMCAN is out to pursue the balancing of price of properties in the housing sector, and had set up a group that will be going out to sensitise Nigerians about it, and also sensitise online.

Collins said that many Nigerian sees policy by real estate developer as a trap, and that REMCAN will help government to balance information regarding housing issues in Nigeria.

“Too many things is making housing issue cumbersome in Nigeria, we are coming to help government past right information to the public, we will be talking to the public to deal with only REMCAN members.

“The Nigerian real estate industry has witnessed tremendous growth over the years, but it has also faced significant challenges, lack of clear guidance for realtors, agents, brokers and marketers.

“We have seen cases of unethical practices, disputes over commissions, and a general mistrust between real estate practitioners and the public.

“Marketing professionals, who are the backbone of real estate transactions, often struggle to receive their rightful commission after closing deals. There is also growing concern about excessive commissions and unguided practices that erode public trust.

“REMCAN has been established to address these challenges head-on. Our mission is to create a professional, ethical, and transparent real estate marketing environment in Nigeria, where everyone’s interest is protected

“We aim to unite practitioners, bring together real estate marketers, consultants, agents, and brokers under one umbrella,” he said.

He said that would also ensure fairness, guarantee that every professionals who closes a deal receives their due commission.

Collins said that the association would also promote ethical standards, establish a clear code of conduct to protect clients and practitioners alike, collaborate with government by working closely with policy makers to streamline and implement policies that will foster growth and trust in the sector.

He said that REMCAN is not just an association, but a movement built for all Nigerians with inclusivity and collaboration, adding that when the industry work together, everyone stands to benefits

Collins however called on real estate practitioners to cooperate with the association to build a transparent and thriving industry.

He also advised members of the public to always look out for members of REMCAN before engaging in real estate business.
