The National Council of Ojuju Abadufu Igala Forum (OAIF) has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to intervene and help reverse some policies in the state.

The forum also called on the new governor, Usman Ododo, to expedite action on the need to stem the tide of ugly cases of kidnapping, banditry, communal crises, and other life-threatening criminalities in the state.

President of OAIF, Christopher Ukwenya, made the appeal during an interface with newsmen in Abuja at the weekend.
According to him, the group rejects former governor Yahaya Bello’s lopsided appointments that favoured his central senatorial district, especially Okene, where he comes from, as this negates the principles of equity, equality, and social justice.

“We call on the appropriate authorities, government agencies, Nigerians, and the entire world leadership to pay attention to the ugly political developments in Kogi State,” he said.

Speaking on the suspension of traditional rulers in some parts of the state, Christopher condemned the action and called for a total reversal to the status quo.

He called on the electoral umpire to revisit and probe illegal actions that took place during the gubernatorial election, where some results were already out before the commencement of the poll.

He noted that Kogi State is blessed with mineral, human, and material resources, including oil and coal, yet it has the highest level of poverty.

He frowned at the pervasive passivism of the Kogi State government in tackling the socioeconomic crisis faced by the entire state and Kogi East in particular.

Speaking on percentage salary, he said the state must stop forthwith the practice, as Kogi has no need to go through unnecessary economic crunch solely imposed on the people by Yahaya Bello’s government to impoverish them.
