No fewer than five Muslim worshippers have been killed by gunmen after kidnapping an Imam, Mallam Yahaya, and other 40 worshippers in a mosque in Kanoma, Zamfara State.
It was gathered that the bandits on several motorcycles stormed the mosque on Friday during the Juma’at prayers before the killings and the kidnap.
An eye witness said that gunshots of the bandits caused a stampede and forced the cleric to stop his first Raka’a in the Salaa prayer session.
Preferring not to be named, the ey witness said that the Imam and others abducted by the bandits were led into the bush.
Investigation also revealed that the Imam and some worshippers abducted with him were released on Saturday.
