The Lawmaker representing Obokun/ Oriade Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Honourable Busayo Oluwole Oke has congratulated the Osun State Governor-Elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke on the victory recorded on Thursday at the Supreme Court over a suit filed by Prince Dotun Babayemi, challenging the candidature of Senator Adeleke as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flag bearer at the July 16 Governorship election.
The apex court, in a unanimous judgement by a five-man panel of judges, dismisses the appeal that was lodged against Adeleke by Prince Dotun Babayemi who laid claim to governorship ticket of the PDP, having emerged from a parallel primary election that was held by a faction of the party in the state.
Counsel to the Appellant, Mr. Adebayo Adelodun, SAN, withdrew the appeal after the panel led by Justice Amina Augie, drew his attention to the fact that the case was statute barred.
The panel had maintained that the appeal was incompetent, stressing that it was filed outside the 14 days period provided by the law.
Meanwhile, Hon. Oluwole Oke described the judgment as a fair justice that further gave credibility to the judiciary as the hope of a common man in the country.
Hon Oke also urged the people of Osun not to entertain any fear in the petition filed against the victory of the Governor-Elect by Governor Oyetola, saying “Oyetola should rather withdrawal his petition because it would never see the light of the day as the election was credibly conducted.
“He should know that the result of the election had shown the will and wishes of the good people of Osun State”
