ICC Calls on Parents to Prioritize Girls Child Education for National Development

A group under the aegis of the Ilobu Concerned Citizens (ICC), Irepodun local government area of Osun state, has called on the parents to prioritize the education of girls child for development of the nation.

They said it is high time for parents to concern more about their children education, saying that when you train a girl, you train a nation.

Speaking on Monday at the second edition of the Jare Adebisi-Balogun Education Grant, JABEG, organised by Ilobu Concerned Citizens, (ICC), the chairman Dr. Kamarudeen Oladosu emphasized the importance of education on the community department.

He charged parents to serious with the education of their subjects for the development of the society.

Oladosu berated the less concern of some parents about the education of girls child in rural areas.

However, he said the ICC roll out education grants to three indigent students of higher institutions in honour of late Barrister Jare Adebisi-Balogun who was a founding member of the group before he late.

According to him, “The parents should be more concerned about the education of the girls child, when they pay more concern about education, when they trained girls they trained the country.

He said, “We are Ilobu Concerned Citizens and we Concern with anything that will advance the course of Ilobu. All of members are ones students and we past through difficulties before we graduated and got to where we are.

“As a club we started to expend our ways of giving back to our society (Ilobu) to education grants after series of discussion we unanimously to name it after one of our members is now late
Barrister Jare Adebisi-Balogun that is why this programme name Jare Adebisi-Balogun Education Grant, (JABEG).

“This is second edition of the Jare Adebisi-Balogun Education grant for indigent students. We invited application from indigent students through the link which was circulated and we able to responses across the country from sokoto, from Kano. By the special grace of God we are going to continue and we hope to expand it next year,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Ilobu Concerned Citizens, (ICC) committee secretary, Dr Nurein Abioye said that 19 students applied for the scholarship programme and six students got to interview stage, while three students are finally make the list

Abioye said that a law student of Ado Bayero University, Salahundeen Ridwanlahi, a medicine and surgery student of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Adedigba Ismael, and a Radiography student of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Odewale Mubinat won the 2024 education grants of the group.

One of the winners who spoke on behalf of others, Adedigba Ismail appreciated the group for their support, promising to be a good ambassador of the community any where in the world.
