Iga Swiatek admits at times she finds it “hard to understand how all of this success happened” to her at such an early age. Swiatek, 22, is already a four-time Grand Slam champion and has spent 75 consecutive weeks at the world No 1 spot.

It all started in 2020, when Swiatek introduced herself to the tennis world by winning the French Open at 19. Now, Swiatek has 15 titles in her collection – most notably four on the Grand Slam level and five WTA 1000 titles.

“What I have done since 2020 is pretty crazy. It is hard for me sometimes to even understand how it happened, because when I was younger I didn’t know it was going to be possible for me,” Swiatek said, via Relevant Tennis.

Swiatek put up a very dominant season in 2022

After Ashleigh Barty retired in 2022 March, Swiatek replaced the former three-time Grand Slam champion at the world No 1 spot.

By the end of the 2022 season, Swiatek was widely considered the best player in the women’s game. Last year, Swiatek won a total of eight titles, including two Grand Slam titles. Also, Swiatek went on a run of 37 consecutive wins between February and July – that set a new record for the most consecutive wins on the WTA Tour in the 21st century.

In late 2022, Swiatek – who at the time was 21 – admitted that she definitely didn’t expect to do what she did. “It’s pretty amazing. I wasn’t expecting to have this kind of good experience so soon in my career.

I thought I would have that when I was at my peak at 24 or 25 and have that experience. I am pretty happy that I am able to give my all and play well and be in that place. My dreams are coming true,” Swiatek said in 2022 October.
