Appointees of the Osun State Governor, elected officers, and key stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Ijesa North Federal Constituency have taken strong exception to recent remarks by Hon. Wole Oke following his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Wole Oke, a former House of Representatives member who represented Ijesa North, had claimed on social media that he “allowed” some PDP members in Obokun, Oriade, and other areas to remain in the party “to enjoy the fruits of their labour,” insinuating they would have defected with him otherwise.

This is in a statement jointly signed by Awe Femi (SSA to Governor Ademola Adeleke on political matters), Alawiye Olaosebikan (SSA to the Office of the Governor), Ajayi Olugbemiga (SSA to the Governor), Chief Sesan Orija, Engr Segun Otegbayo, Hon. Tope Abiola, and Elder Rótìmí Oloyede on behalf of all the governor’s appointees, PDP stakeholders from Obokun and Oriade LGs, and concerned patriots of Ijesa North Federal Constituency.

Describing the comments as “uncultured, uncivilized and delusional,” the PDP stakeholders said the statement reeks of arrogance and demonstrates Oke’s disconnection from reality and his fading political relevance.

“After spending over 20 unproductive years in the National Assembly, with no tangible project or legacy to show in his hometown, Esa Oke, Hon. Oke now absurdly assumes he can determine the political direction of Osun PDP. That is not only a laughable overestimation of his importance, it is a sign of political dementia,” they said.

They emphasized that Oke’s political journey was made possible by the unwavering support of the PDP and its committed members, not by his personal influence.

The stakeholders pledged continued loyalty to Governor Ademola Adeleke, vowing that Ijesa North remains a stronghold of the PDP.

In a separate development, PDP leaders in Iwo Federal Constituency have also dismissed Oke’s recent claims of impending defections from their axis to the APC as false and delusional.

They made this known in a statement jointly signed by Hon. Sulaiman Akanji Bello (SEEBEE), Iwo PDP Leader; Hon. Alidu Tiamiyu Adeoye, Iwo PDP Chairman; and all PDP leaders in Iwo Local Government.

They accused Oke of trying to fabricate relevance by orchestrating artificial followership through secret meetings across the state.

“We came across a short message on social media where Oke claimed that his so-called followers across the state would soon publicly join him in his newfoundland, mentioning our constituency particularly,” the leaders said.

They argued that Oke has never held any office with a statewide sphere of influence and lacks any substantial political following in Iwo.

“If we could successfully weather the political onslaught of the APC in the state for 12 years until 2022, no element can distract us at this point again,” the statement added, reaffirming support for Governor Adeleke and the PDP administration.
