The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate Senator Uba Sani as the winner of the gubernatorial election held on the 18th of March, 2023 in the state.

The APC candidate polled 730,002 to defeat his arch-rival, Isah Ashiru of the People’s Democratic Party, who scored 719,196.

Declaring the results, the Returning officer of the Kaduna state governorship election, Professor Lawal Bilbis, said, “the APC candidate who scored the highest number of votes, Uba Sani is hereby declared the winner and returned elected.

The breakdown of the results showed that APC had won in ten local governments of Zaria, Kaduna South, Kaduna North, Birnin Gwari, Giwa, Sabon Gari, Igabi, IKara, Kauru, and Kubau.

While PDP had won in thirteen local governments of Makarfi, Kachia, Chikun, Kagarko, Jaba, Jema’a, Kaura, Zango Kataf, Soba, Kudan, Chikun, Kaura, Sanga, and Lere.

Speaking on his victory in an interview, the governor-elect, Uba Sani, promised to rule with the fear of Allah. He also said he would be fair to all, saying his doors are open.

“I will rule with the fear of Allah. My doors Will be open to all. I thanked the people of the state for giving him this opportunity Insha Allah. I will not fail you, he declared.

Earlier, before the declaration, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Kaduna state chapter, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to declare its gubernatorial candidate, Hon. Isa Ashiru as the winner of the just concluded governorship and House of Assembly election in the state.

The party disclosed this in a press conference in Kaduna on Monday, addressed by the Chairman of the party, Felix Hassan Hyet.

He said, ” I hereby call on INEC to declare Isa Ashiru of PDP as the winner of the election, using the authentic results.

” Any attempt to change the results amounts to denying the people the right to their choice. We appreciate the people of our dear state for their support and confidence in PDP.”

In the same vein, three former governors of the state, Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi, Dr. Ramalan Yero, and former Vice President of Nigeria, Arc. Namadi Sambo has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to announce the right results from each Local government using the IREV reports in declaring winners.

In a statement issued by the deputy director of the PDP campaign council, Reuben Buhari noted that ” while certain inconsistencies were noticed with the earlier released result of the elections, the entire results need to be based on the IREV reports.

“The statement disclosed that the trio further called on all supporters of the PDP to remain calm.
