As part of efforts to commemorate the International Girl Child Day, a non organization, Gaap Foundation has sensitized female students from three orphanage homes, The Divine Heritage homes, Ijamido homes and Bola-Mofo Zion Center in Lagos at the weekend on sex education and self belief.

A registered Nurse and midwife, Mary Osemeka educates the girls on menstrual hygiene, safety precautions while menstruating to avoid infections and tips on how to ease menstrual pains avoiding drug abuse.

“while menstruating ensure you make everything neat, bathe regularly, change your sanitary pads regularly to avoid bad odour instead I want you to look beautiful, smart, intelligent and neat”

“As a girl, do not be shy of your menses instead be proud of it and do not engage in pre-marital sex as a teenager because it shatters dreams “. She said.

Speaking to the students on the theme Dreamer’s World, Gaap Board of Trustees, Engr. Boye Falonipe said, “you were born with the ability to imagine, continue to dream, continue to imagine because it is a dreamer’s world, there is no place you want to get to that your mind does not go first”

He noted that the children’s thought is like a magnet, and their mind is a womb and a soil hence they should sow the right seeds of great thoughts and avoid negative thoughts at all times.

He urged the children to be disciplined, consistent, courageous, continue to dream, stay true to their conviction and never give up on their dreams no matter the times they fail.

Falonipe urged the government and parent to introduce sex education in their homes to avoid misconception by the children because this is a digitialised world

Member of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations ( NIPRP) Noibi Aramide Tola urged the students to be consistent in the Lord, avoid bad peers and be mindful of their dressing.
