Int’l Women’s day: Monsurat Ajoke Foundation To Train Women Free Skills Acquisition In Osun

A non governmental organization in Osun State, Monsurat Ajoke Foundation, MAF, will on Saturday official flag-off its humanitarian activities.

The flag-off is also to commemorate the 2020 annual international Women’s International Day which be held at the Nigeria Union of Journalist, NUJ, Press Centre, Osogbo.

As lined up program for the flag-off, the foundation will engage girls and women in free skills acquisition training on Saturday while free medical checkup will be done on Sunday.

The NGO according to its Executive Director, who is known for her philanthropist firm love to the needy, Monsurat Ibrahim Oluwatoyin, said the foundation was born out of her genuine love in tackling girl child and women molestation in the society.

Ajoke noted that thousands of girls including women have suffered different forms of molestation, such as sexual harassment and physical assault, many of whom continue to live helplessly, dreaming for justice.

She said Monsurat Ajoke Foundation is ready to fight for the voiceless, however, urged victims who must have suffered sexual harassment and physical assault to report any of these abusive cases to them, saying the foundation will provide justice for them.

Speaking on how to eradicate girl child and women molestation, Ajoke said the foundation will be embarking on sensitizing girl child in schools and women at all level across 30 local government in Osun.

She added that victims will be provided with required counseling, rehabilitation and necessary empowerment in order for them not to remain stigmatized in the society, adding that they will do everything possible to enable the law to punish perpetrators of girl child and women abuse.

“Enslaving girl child by using that for illegal work is also part of what our foundation will be tackling” she said.

She appealed to parents and guardians to report all cases of girl child and women abuse to them, promised that they will do all in their capacity to provide justice for victims.
