Three months after the announcement of his withdrawal for the whole of 2023, Rafael Nadal, after spending his holidays in Spain with his family, has returned to give important signals to his fans, who have been waiting hopefully in recent months. If until now he had worked out in the gym or undergoing conservative treatments to fully recover from his physical problems, the 36-year-old Majorcan has returned to training on a tennis court.

Nadal, who slipped below the top 100 after losing the victory points in Paris, will slowly try to rediscover the sensations and certainties that have distinguished him throughout his career, to try and give himself one last year on the tour that is not a mere spectator.

Rafael Nadal has been out of action since January 18, 2023, when he played his last match against the American Mackenzie McDonald at the Australian Open. A troubled year for the Spanish champion, who due to an injury to the psoas muscle, initially not considered so serious, saw himself slipping in front of very important events, including the Roland Garros.

The 22-time Grand Slam champion announced a few months ago from his Academy that his season could already be said to be over, and that he would do everything to return in 2024, presumably his last year of activity. In the press conference he explained: “I’d like to fight again for important goals, but my physique doesn’t agree.

I have to look ahead, fortunately there are so many beautiful things in my everyday life. You can’t always ask too much of the body, he’s the one who told me stop. Now I stop to think about the future. I don’t know what will happen, I can’t control everything.

I am a positive person and I will try to be competitive again. I don’t want a 2024 appearance, I would like to go on the pitch and win. I want to take the time to recover and get back to the highest level possible. I won’t give a return date, when I’m ready mentally and physically I’ll be back.

One goal could be to go back to playing the Davis Cup and start 2024 well, with the guarantee of being able to be competitive. Maybe 2024 will be the last year on the court.”

🚨🚨🚨🚨

Rafael Nadal has been back on the training courts for the first time in three months!
