There is a growing recognition of the untapped capacity and talents of women in leadership. Over the last two decades, the rate of women’s representation in national development and grassroots level cannot be over-emphasized.

The full and equitable participation of women in public life is essential to building and sustaining a strong and vibrant democracy.

These set of women have now developed themselves by acquainting themselves with those essential ingredients of leadership like Education, Leadership Courses and Active Ideological Participation in Politics.

One of such is Hon. Sakirat Adeoye Iyaniwura, one of the leading aspirants for the Chairmanship of Olorunda North LCDA in the State of Osun who is showing the world that she is ready for the job.

The council area is of immense importance to the entrenchment of democratic ideals in a nation. Therefore, its crop of leaders must be those who understand the germain needs of a society and admimistration at the grassoroosts to attract social development to the towns and villages.

To start with, over 400 residents of Oba Ile have benefitted from a free medical outreach organised by her. Hon Adeoye Sakirat who is currently the Deputy Leader of the council area also distributed included exercise books, Ankara and paid WAEC fees for students as well as giving foods items to the needy and renovated the primary health care center in Oba-ile.

The amazon intends to give support to efforts at making the Education sector of the State of Osun improve through timely intervention and aids especially to basic and post basic schools.
.
Taking a cue from other women who have excelled in the murky water of politics, Sakirat Adeoye’s vision which includes responsiveness to citizen’s needs, women and youth empowerment, increased support for the aged among others seeks to justify varying calls for the emancipation of women and their ability to participate actively in the terrain.

Women’s participation in politics helps to advance gender equality and affects both the range of policy issues that get considered and the types of solutions that are proposed.  Research indicates that whether a political office holder is male or female, it has no distinct impact on their policy priorities.

There is also strong evidence that as more women are elected to office, there is a corollary increase in policy making that emphasizes quality of life and reflects the priorities of families, women, and ethnic and racial minorities.

Also, women in power can be counted on to raise issues that others overlook, to support ideas that others oppose, and to seek an end to abuses that others accept.

Depending on whether women are young or older, educated or uneducated, live in rural or urban areas, they have very different life experiences that lead to different priorities and needs. Clearly, women’s representation is not the only factor, but it is a critical factor for the development of inclusive, responsive, and transparent democracies.

All these touch of finesse, concentration and efforts to further make the society develop more and attain it’s desired level of development are what Sakirat Adeoye Iyaniwura intends to bring if given the opportunity to serve as the Chairman of Olorunda North LCDA.
