Collaborative efforts by all stakeholders and like-minds have been identified as an important strategy towards community development. This was the message of a front-line community in Osun who doubles as Oluomo of Modakeke, Alhaji AbdulFatai Kolawole at the handing-over of a 60KVA generator and five sets of the Air condition to the palace of Ogunsua of Modakeke at the weekend courtesy of Engr. kayode Sowade.
Kolawole who was among the guest of honour lauded the donor for his philanthropic gestures and called other well-meaning indigenes of the ancient town to jointly support any initiative that would add value to the town.
He noted that equipment would not only provide convenience and comfort within the palace but also beautify the traditional institution of the town.
In his words, the Oluomo of Modakeke said, “it is my pleasure to address entire sons and daughters of Modakeke to acknowledge the significance of another landmark project in our Dear community and beautification of our traditional institution”
“The unity of our past and present community elders is a vital tool for the development we are experiencing. It is our collective prayer to Almighty God to guide our leaders right”
“My people, there is need for synergy among ourselves for a better community with sensitive attention to maximizing the benefits of our polling units increased number and strategic mobilization for the coming population census considering its immediate and remote benefits we tend to derive”
“In the modern system of societal administration, it is clear that political participation is essential for sustainable development. PLATO once said; *”One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors”.* This implies that *”The wise who refuse to rule should prepare to suffer the rule of idiots”*. I admonish us to actively involve in the political process for the development of our community”
“The Executive Governor, State of Osun, Alhaji Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola has positively made an impact in our community through his various people-oriented welfare programme and infrastructural projects such as Famia road construction, maintenance of bridges and drainage system to curb flooding and equipping health institutions”
“At this juncture, I want to appreciate the donor; Mr. Kayode Sowade for donating a 60KVA Generator and five (5) sets of Air conditioning units to the palace of Ogunsua of Modakeke in celebration of the 67th birthday of Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, the executive Governor of this State of Virtues, we believe that these facilities will add value to our traditional building and I am calling other people as individuals and bodies not to relent in community service”
“It is significantly necessary before concluding my address to acknowledge the MPU National Executive members, Ogunsua Traditional Council, Honourary Chiefs and Elders for their administrative input; we shall not labour in vain”, he concluded.
