A special task force set up by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP M.A. Adamu, in continuation of investigations into the attack & attempted murder of Governor Samuel Ortom, has arrived Makurdi, in Benue State.
Recall that Gunmen suspected to be herdsmen had attempted to assassinate Ortom during an attack on his farm along the Makurdi- Gboko road.
However, a team led by DCP Abba Kyari consisting of operatives from the Tactical Investigation Units of the Force Intelligence Bureau (FIB), experienced, crack detectives with specialized competencies in crime scene investigation and reconstruction, ballistics, fingerprint analysis and other core areas of forensics have now arrived in the state.
A statement by the Police said the team is expected to investigate all angles of the reported attack to ensure that all persons empirically linked to the incident are apprehended and brought to book.
It said the Inspector-General of Police also charged the team to be professional, thorough and clinical in their investigations adding that they are to liaise and work with the Benue State Police Command and other relevant members of the law enforcement community to deliver on their mandate.
Meanwhile, Governor Samuel Ortom had denied reports that three people were last week arrested by the police in connection with the attack
