The Lagos State Government, on Friday, further eased restrictions on social gatherings.

Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Uzamat Akinbile Yusuff, made the announcement in a statement.

The official said the decision was taken after Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s consultation and deliberations with relevant stakeholders.

In the new guidelines, event centres must register before reopening. Event duration should not exceed six hours.

Safety Marshals must be deployed by an accredited safety consultant from Lagos State Safety Commission for events with attendance exceeding 200 people.

The occupancy limit shall be 50 percent of the maximum design capacity of the hall.

The capacity allowable, irrespective of limit, is 500 people. Deep cleaning must be carried out before and after every event.

Physical distancing must be maintained between seated guests. The maximum number should be 6 people on a table of 10.

“Event center owners/ planners/vendors would be responsible for any breach of protocols by their staff,” the government added.

The statement said COVID-19 protocols must be observed and warned that any violation shall attract fines and penalties in line with the Lagos State Infectious Diseases Control Regulation 2020.
