A human rights organization, Committee for Defense of Human Rights (CDHR), has written the Moore Police Command in Ile-Ife to intervene in alleged land grabbing, and threatening violence by one Mr. Okikiola Hammed and Oba Olaposi Awojugbagbe, popularly known as Peril.

The rights group stated that
the duo obtained properties from Mr. Ayoola Olayinka through deceptive and manipulative means, saying that they also issued threats intended to instill fear and intimidate him.

The CDHR, in a received copy of the letter addressing to the Area Commander, Nigeria Police Force, Ife Area Command, Moore, Ile-Ife dated 12/5/2025, signed by Comrade Akinrinade Wahab and obtained by THESOURCE News on Friday, the actions pose a risk to public peace and safety.

The human rights called for urgent attention and charge it to a court of competent jurisdiction to ensure that the law takes its proper course.

According to letter, “We write to formally express our interest and concern in an ongoing matter involving one Mr. Okikiola Hammed and Oba Olaposi Awojugbagbe, who are alleged to have engaged in acts of stealing by conversation, threats of violence, and other conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace.

“It has come to our attention that the aforementioned people, through deceptive and manipulative means, unlawfully obtained properties from Mr. Ayoola Olayinka, and subsequently issued threats intended to instill fear and intimidate him. Their behavior is not only criminal but poses a risk to the safety and well-being of individuals in our community.

“In the interest of justice and public order, we respectfully request that your office give this matter the urgent attention it requires. We wish the matter charged to the court of competent jurisdiction to ensure that the law takes its proper course.

A copy of the petition that brought with the letter to the command explained that Mr. Ayoola Olayinka is a bricklayer and on 17th January, 2025 he was contracted to do a perimeter fence of a land on Abraham Ogunigbaro Family Land, Olodo Village Fashina Area, Off Ibadan Road, Ile-Ife, Ife Central Local Government Area, Osun State.

“The course of doing the job one Okikiola Hammed and other persons accosted him and seized his 4 shovels, 4 diggers and other building too forcefully; and they locked the tools in the boot of the car belonging to a riva claimant who purportedly purchased the land through them.

“Upon his request that Okikiola Hammed should return his building tools to him Okikiola Hammed assured him that his building tools are safe bu

“Thereafter he denied collecting the tools from him; and since 17th January, 2025 he deprived him of the tools with intention to permanently deprive him of same.

“In a bid to make him succumb to the seizure and deprivation of his tools Okikiola Hammed and one other person threatened that recently they brougth guns to the land and an Hausa man working on the land was crying helplessly when he had their sporadic shooting.

“In an audio recording of the incident mentioned above Okikiola Hammed said he has no any land at the location, threatened that he fights in order to acquire land for people, sells the land and give returns to those who engaged him; and, Oba Olaposi Awojugbagbe known as Peril is his boss.

“We therefore commend Sections 383, 390, 86 and 249(D) of the Criminal Code Law of Osun State and Sections 2(3)(1) and 4 of the Osun State Forceful Entry and Illegal Occupation Of Landed Properties (Prohibition) Law, 2018 to you and request that the matter be investigated and prosecuted in Court of Law,” the petition stated.
