Yoruba secession agitator, Sunday Adeyemo Igboho popularly known as Sunday Igboho has been warned to learn from the fate of the leader of the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

The Yoruba Welfare Group (YWG) spoke as Igboho insists that there is no going back on the Saturday July 3 Yoruba Nation Rally in Lagos.

In a statement made available to Daily Trust yesterday, President of YWF, a Yoruba sociopolitical group, Comrade Abdulhakeem Alawuje advised Igboho not to toe the path of Kanu by indulging in actions that would plunge the South-West into crises as being witnessed in the South-East part of the country.

“With all the backings that Kanu claimed he has, he was arrested like a chicken and extradited to Nigeria without noise. As we speak, his trial has continued at the Abuja High Court,” Alawuje said.

He said the developments in the South-East should be an eye-opener for Yoruba sons and daughters.

He also took a swipe at the Yoruba leader, Emeritus Professor Banji Akintoye for backing the Yoruba nation agitation and the rally slated for Lagos, warning him against toying with the lives of the people.

“Call us names, we are to tell you the truth no matter how bitter it is,” Alawuje said, adding that Akintoye’s support for the proposed Yoruba rally in Lagos is capable of throwing Lagos into crisis.

“Instead of you calling others to their senses, not to allow anything that can lead to crises in Lagos State, you are the first to support them,” he added.

Meanwhile, Igboho popularly known as Sunday Igboho has debunked media reports of the postponement of the Yoruba Nation Rally slated for Lagos.

Early on Wednesday, news has been making the round that the rally has been postponed indefinitely.

But the convener of the rally, Igboho, who had earlier vowed that nobody can stop him from going ahead with the rally, refuted the report, saying the rally would go on as planned.

A statement by his media aide, Olayomi Koiki, “This is to confirm to the general public that the Lagos State Mega Rally scheduled for this Saturday 3rd of July 2021 will hold as planned.

“We are using this medium to ask the CP (commissioner of Police) Lagos State to protect all the Yorubas coming into the state for this peaceful Mega Rally because of all the information about some individuals and groups of people trying to disrupt the peaceful rally.

“Chief Sunday Igboho can not stop this rally because it’s all the Yorubas that want the rally to hold and Yoruba Nation is bigger than him.

“Rally holds at Ojota and it starts at 9am,” Koiki said in a statement.
