The traditional religion worshipers Association, Osun State chapter, has requested that the Nigerians should task political office holders to take oath of office by using traditional deities to test run the government in the next four years.
The president of the association, Oluomo Oluseyi Atanda maintained that there is no ethnic group in Nigeria that does not have their inherent traditional religion or culture before Western religion came into the country.
Atanda disclosed this while featuring on a current affairs programme of Rave FM ‘Frank Talk’ in Osogbo, on Tuesday, monitored by NigeriaNewsDirect correspondent, he noted that all political office holders in Western countries took oats with their native religions.
According to him, “I am not saying that Islam or Christianity does not work. I’m not saying that you cannot take an oath with Islam or Christianity. But I call to question the system of those Western faith oats in Nigeria.”
“Christianity came from Israel. Islam came from Saudi Arabia. They take oaths using those of their native religions and their society is better.
“If we have imported those religious took oaths through them why are things going from bad to worse and worse to worse, that means there is a deceit those oaths are not being used the way they are being used.
“But I put a challenge to them. They should come out and tell us what is wrong. Why would you swear with the Bible in Nigeria and you will do things wrongly, and things go wrong. Whereas in some other lands, they dare not do a pseudo oath with the Bible.” he said
