Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has urged residents of Osun State to re-elect Governor Ademola Adeleke for a second term, citing his impressive performance in office.

Makinde made this statement while commissioning the completed dualisation of the Roundabout–Testing Ground–Ilesa Garage Road in Osogbo, the state capital.

Makinde commended Adeleke for delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Osun State, emphasizing that the reward for hard work is more work.

He praised Adeleke’s commitment to completing projects initiated by previous administrations including the road project started by Governor Aregbesola.

The Oyo State Governor also stressed the importance of continuity in governance, noting that it fosters rapid development.

In his remarks, Makinde expressed his confidence in Adeleke’s leadership, saying, “I celebrate the good work going on in Osun State. On behalf of our people, I want to say that Governor Adeleke and I are united in ensuring that our decisions put our people first”.

“On my way from Government House to this place, I saw several ongoing projects. This is real. The people know what they are getting.”

“I commend him for delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of the state. The reward for hard work is more work, so give him more work to do for another four years.”

“We are united in ensuring that when public funds are spent on a project, whether by a previous administration or ours, we complete it to deliver value to the good people of Osun State.

“This road was started by Governor Aregbesola and has now been completed by Governor Adeleke, regardless of who gets the credit. This cements your position of leadership.

“I have two years and some months left to complete my tenure, and I am glad that Nigeria has advanced beyond mediocrity and shallow thinking.”

“Someone got distracted after the Edo and Ondo elections. He said they were coming for Osun and Oyo states. I urge you to show them that you mean business.”

“I assure you the game is not yet over in Edo and Ondo. We are challenging the results in court. We are law-abiding people in our party, and we believe that whatever has been done will be revealed.”

“One of the surest ways to tackle the current economic challenges is for commissioners to do their best to implement policies and projects that will benefit their people.

“Of course, we must continue to fight for reforms that will lead to true federalism because, unfortunately, proponents of true federalism are pushing us toward a unitary system of government.”

“We will continue to lead the pack and provide good leadership for our people.

“This is a day to rejoice with my brother, Governor Ademola Adeleke, and the good people of Osun State because something good has happened to them. My prayer is that good things will continue to happen to all of us.”

Governor Ademola Adeleke’s Remarks:
Earlier, Governor Ademola Adeleke said, “At the inception of my administration, I promised God and the people of Osun State that I would not abandon projects inherited from my predecessors.

“It is my firm belief that public projects are public assets that must not be wasted on the altar of political vendetta. I followed my conviction by directing my team to compile a list of all abandoned projects and submit a completion plan.”

“This road project was started by former Governor Rauf Aregbesola, and today, I have completed it because governance is about continuity.”

He commended Governor Seyi Makinde for celebrating with him and the people of the state, promising more dividends of democracy in the coming years.
