Nigerian youths have been charged to make use of the positive side of social media platforms by preparing themselves for opportunities and connections.

This is even as the students of Mass Communication of the Fountain University organized Facebook Meet Up 2024 for a semester examination of the 400L student’s course ”Event Management”

Speaking at the event on Tuesday, John Afolarin commended the school management for allowing the students to put kind of event together.

Afolarin described the programme as such programme preparing students for life after school, saying that life as moves beyond learning theory alone.

He charged the students to engage on social media platforms to connect with the right people by presenting themselves with a good brand.

Afolarin said, “The major challenge we have in the country is the issue of unemployment but when you are open to many opportunities and you have laid your hand on the practical aspect of it life will not be difficult for you as a young graduate.”

Also speaking, the Director of Marketing and Strategy at Mazota Nig,
Olajide Ajibola, said the meet up is a channel to prepare Students to be useful for the society.

“The theme of the programme Network, Learn, and Engage is a summary of what students will face outside the school.

He encouraged other institutions in the country to emulate the programme for their student to be self-reliance.

Meanwhile, Dr Rasheed Adebiyi, noted that the Facebook Meet up as a program is to equip the students on practical and to acquire a skill.

“The program encouraged the students to go into practicals to equip them for the skills required and needed for them to be relevant in society, and after school, as employees are now after skills and not only the certificate.
