Oloba of Oba Oke, Oba Adam Iyiola Bakare Esutola II and the President of Oba Oke Development Union (ODU) Pastor Remi Abidogun have called on the Osun State Government to extend dividends of democracy to the town by completing some state infrastructural projects which have been abandoned for years.

Oba Bakare Esutola and Pastor Abidogun who made the call during the 24th Oba Oke Day celebration which held at the St. Peters Primary School Oba Oke on Saturday November 6 said completion of some projects like Owala Dam which can generate electricity for the state and Comprehensive Health Centre constructed since 1982 as well as rehabilitation of Osogbo-Oba Oke-Oba Ile Eko Ende Road which was last constructed in 1999 would be of immense benefits to the town and the state.

In their separate speeches, Oloba Oke said “we are urging the governor to please assist us in completing.the comprehensive health centre, the building whose construction started in 1982 during Chief Bola Ige era in Old Oyo State. The Dagbolu Oba Oke Oba Ile Eko Ende road rehabilitation which started by this administration has been abandoned since 2018. We urge the government to complete the rehabilitation,” stated Oloba Oke.

Pastor Abidogun in his submission said “I also want to call the state government attention to the God Gifted Owala Dam which has been left untapped. This, if timely utilized will go a long way in bringing income to the state through tourism, fishery, irrigation and training ground for underwater welders. Owala Dam.project covering Onipakiti and Papa Villages in Oba Oke has been abandoned since 1982 after Chief Bola Ige’s administration in 1983.

“While.commending the achievement recorded in the state in the areas of infrastructure development, education transformation and health care delivery, we also want your executive intervention in our town the same way. This if addressed will go a long way in extending dividends of democracy to us too,’ submitted Pastor Abidogun.

Chairman of the day who doubles as the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Adebayo Adeleke, Senate Spokesperson Dr. Ajibola Basiru and Former Commissioner for Information Oluomo Sunday Akere after their bountiful donations lauded people of Oba Oke for remaining progressive and urged them keep the flag flying.
