Adeleke pledges support for Obaagun, Commissions classrooms built by US-based couple

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Thursday commissioned a block of three classrooms built by the Oluomo of Obaagun in Ifelodun Local Government, Alhaji Ganiyu Makanjuola, and donated to the state government.

Adeleke commended the donour for complementing the efforts of the state government, assuring that his administration will not relent in promoting education in Osun to meet up with international standard.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Teslim Igbalaye, Adeleke noted that his administration is doing everything possible to ensure that students of the state get good and standard education.

He said the regular payment of salary and recent increment in salary was part of his administration’s effort to encourage teachers to impart good knowledge in the students.

Adeleke, however, promised that he will not relent until he ensure that education meet up with the best standard in the world.

The donour said the classrooms built, furnished and donated to Community Grammar School, Obaagun, was part of his contribution to the promotion of education and to serve as a give back to his community.

The donour who recalled how he suffered to get education, having trained himself through personal efforts and struggle, urged parents to give priority to education of their children.

Noting that government alone can not fund education to meet up with the best standard, Makanjuola urged philanthropists in the state to join hands with the government in providing conducive environment for learning.

He said, “The decisions taken by me and my dear wife, Alhaja Rafat, was borne out of the need to appreciate the beauty and inherent value of education.

“As a way of recall, way back into so many years, myself and my wife went through baptism of fire before acquiring education that eventually changed our lives.

As youths at that time many years ago, we struggled very hard on our own before acquiring education that shot us into limelight today. At that time, the needed guidance and inspiration were completely lacking. There was no one to encourage or guide us.

At a point in time, we lost hope of ever thinking that we would one day pass through the four walls of a classroom. Our parents didn’t give special attention and value to education. Lo and behold, we eventually had the opportunity of going to school against all odds. And here we are today as products of good and well acquired education.

“To God be the glory. Therefore, to say that, education is indeed, a potent instrument that one uses to say no to poverty and become great in life is not an understatement,” Makanjuola said.

Noting that education remains the priceless treasure that must be acquired and pass down from generation to generation, Makanjuola said education is also a way of empowering individuals to
reach their full potentials in life in order to make positive impacts on the world.

“One of them is what we are doing here today with the commissioning of this one block of three classrooms for the use of our children.

“As the Oluomo and Yeye Oluomo of Obaagun, this project which was singlehandedly bankrolled by me and my dear wife, is a way of showing immense gratitude to Obaangun land. We also see it as a pay back to the communal of Obaagun,” Makanjuola added.
