The Osun Civil Societies Coalition (OCSC) has called on the Osun State Commissioner of Police , Wale Olokode to strengthen the security atmosphere in the state.
The civil society group made the call on Tuesday at a press conference in Osogbo, Osun state capital said, the rate at which thugs are ‘growing’ in
Osogbo is alarming and this calls for concern from all rational residents of the state.
According to the Chairman of the coalition, Comrade Waheed Lawal, stressed that there is need to do more on the police activities as regard preventing and curtailing violence in the state.
Comrade Lawal charged the police to investigate and prosecute real perpetrators of criminal activities without fear or favours of the corrupt enemies of law and order.
Speaking at the press conference, the Vice Chairman of the coalition, Comrade Wale Folaranmi, said: ”we are not unaware of the growing threats to security of lives and property of the people of Osun State. We state categorically that Osun is no longer a safe state that it used to be. There is a growing trend of insecurity with a side attraction of political violence.
“Recently, the Ooni of Ile-Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi declared a dusk to dawn curfew due to the incessant armed robbery in the city.
