The Ọdún-Adé Orolu Cultural Festival 2025 recently took place in Ifon-Osun, Orolu Kingdom, Osun State, Nigeria. The festival, which ran from August 1 to August 5, 2025, was a vibrant celebration of Yoruba culture, tradition, and spirituality.

The festival commenced with the sacred Ọ̀ṣẹ̀ Obatala rites, symbolizing purity, peace, and divine blessings for the land. The Olufon of Ifon-Osun, His Royal Majesty, Oba Peter Oluwole Ipadeola Ilufemiloye, Akinyooye III, played a pivotal role in the festival, leading the sacred rites and invoking divine blessings for the community.

The festival featured a range of activities, including traditional drumming, dance performances, and cultural exhibitions. The Èdè Àyàn drumming competition was a highlight of the festival, showcasing the talents of traditional drumming groups.

A novelty football match between the Olufon’s Council of Chiefs and the Council of Baales was also held, delivering moments of athleticism and humor. The match drew massive crowds to the Baptist Primary School playground.

The festival also featured intellectual engagements, including lectures on the history and significance of Obatala in Yoruba culture. Renowned historian Professor Siyan Oyeweso delivered a lecture on “The Position of Obatala in the Yoruba Race from Historical Perspective.”

Esteemed Ifá priest, Baba Ifayemi Elebuibon, also delivered an authoritative lecture on “The Position of Obatala in the Yoruba Race from the Ifá Perspective.” The lectures provided valuable insights into the significance of Obatala in Yoruba culture.

The festival concluded with a grand traditional procession and collective ìwúre (prayers) for the peace and progress of the kingdom. The Olufon’s sacred crowns were displayed, and after traditional homage and rituals, the revered Adé Ṣẹ́sẹ́-Ẹfun was ritually placed upon the king’s head.

The Chief Press Secretary to Olufon of Ifon-Osun, Orolu Kingdom and the Aremo Obatala of the Universe, Akeem Adekunle Yusuf stated that Ọdún-Adé Orolu 2025 had not only reaffirmed Ifon-Osun’s place as a beacon of Yoruba culture but also strengthened bonds of unity, showcased intellectual and artistic brilliance, and invoked divine blessings for the community’s future.

Royal fathers, including the Timi of Ede, Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Olojudo of Ido-Osun, Elerin of Erin-Osun, Olokinni of Okinni, and Alago-Amodu, alongside several other monarchs from within and outside Osun State, top political officeholders, senior military officers, cultural delegations, and a vast crowd of well-wishers gathered for the celebration of Obatala’s crowns.
