Ogun Area I Command of Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, has handed over seized bags and parcels of Indian hemp worth over ₦102m to the State command of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Comptroller of the Command, Makinde Bamidele handed over the contraband drug to NDLEA Director, Ishaku Yusuf Kwajafa, Abeokuta, the state capital in line with respect for inter-agency’s statutory functions.

In a statement, the Command’s spokesperson, DSC HB Oloyede said the handover was approved by the Comptroller General of Customs, Col Hameed Ibrahim Ali (rtd).

“In line with respect for each Agency’s statutory functions and in order to further strengthen the synergy between the NCS and NDLEA, the Ogun I Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service with the approval of Comptroller General of Customs, Col Hameed Ibrahim Ali (rtd) hands over intercepted Cannabis Sativa of Three Hundred and Nineteen (319) sacks-raw, Four Hundred and Seventy Six wraps (book size) and Ninety Six (96) wraps (coconut size) with the Duty Paid Value (DPV) of One Hundred and Two Million, Eight Hundred and Forty Eight Thousands, Seven Hundred and Sixty Eight (₦102,848,768.00) naira to NDLEA, Ogun State Command, Abeokuta, Ogun state.

NDLEA Director, Ishaku Yusuf Kwajafa, speaking moments after the confirmation of the illicit drugs using United Nation’s testing kits to ascertain the realness expressed his appreciation for the efforts of NCS’ operatives.

“I think some months ago, we have similar ceremony here. Without the assistance of the Customs here, honestly, there would have been trouble in Ogun State for all these things coming from the border, but the level of manpower and resources you people have is making our work easier.

“I really appreciate the NCS for this efforts, and I can only urged them to continue in this manner so that Nigeria can be good.
